Butterflies Forever's Vision
Imagine on a gray spring day wandering through a bright tropical garden surrounded by lush blooming plants with blooms as big as your hand or as small as a child's thumb nail. Floating all around you are a thousand free butterflies - tasting the flowers, sometimes tasting you! Living in a perfect oases, free from predators (except for the occasional child's fingers) living longer and fuller lives here in Oregon!
This tropical garden under a glass roof will be filled with the sounds of; a cascading waterfall, the trickle of fountains, and the laughter of a child when a butterfly lands close, then flits away. As you follow the winding stream, that butterflies fly over and fish swim lazily through, you'll notice the couple lounging on the heart shaped bench, probably retired, just enjoying the tranquil scene and each other. As you turn another bend a child, his face full of wonder, has his nose pressed against a glass case watching a butterfly come out of its chrysalis and spread its wings for the first time. Astonished that a pod so small can hold that beautiful blue butterfly - or maybe its all yellow or an iridescent green or black with yellow stripes and longwings or perhaps a large brown owl butterfly with eyes on its wings. All will soon float among the towering blooming vines and hover over the bright red, or yellow, or pink flower that catches the butterflies interest.
Oregon needs a butterfly conservatory to enjoy and educate. Butterflies Forever is bringing this enchanting garden here to Oregon. A few other cities in America have gardens or zoo's, but no one in Oregon has captured the beauty and responded to the need. We at Butterflies Forever want to create a conservatory that you can visit easily and children can tour on field trips. Learning that butterflies could be in all our backyards with a little care and knowledge.
Live butterflies in conservatories provide an unequaled educational experience. Their delicate nature, striking beauty, and benign behaviors make them perfect ambassadors for important rain forest habitat, as well as local habitat. We believe that education as a tool for conservation will have its greatest global impact if it reaches audiences in the United States.
Help Butterflies Forever bring this tropical garden to Oregon, a newsletter can keep you informed or a donation will move us ever closer to opening our doors.
